In 2020, I met the Toma House.
It’s an art space in Nara city and is the only remaining residence of Kasuga Taisha Shinto priest former family's house built in the 18th century.
It’s currently undergoing restored work to preserve its appearance for the future. Exhibitions and events are held in between the restored work.
In 2022, I made some art works using scrap materials from the restored working of the Toma House and old cloth of hand-woven natural hemp mosquito net fabric: this fabric name is 奈良晒Narasarashi. It’s High-quality hemp fabric produced in Nara. It was a new discovery for me.
In 2023, I found the factory for natural hemp mosquito net fabric at last. There are only a few looms used in this factory in Japan, and there are very few craftsmen who can handle them. When this fabric is gone, one of the cultures may disappear.
When we get new somethings,
although there is we will have much to lose,
some of them change into a different form.
今回の個展は、従来の版画作品とともに、すでに破棄され二度と手にすることが出来なくなった物や、今後失ってしまうかも知れない物で制作した作品を展示します。
In this my solo exhibition, along with conventional print works, I show artworks created with things that have been discarded and can never be obtained again, and things that may be lost in the future.
様々な要因で失う事物の多さには、それでも残ったカタチには人の手で残したと言う希望と、いつかは失うかも知れないという不安定さを常に抱えており、この揺らぎを表現した作品となっています。
A lot of things lost due to various factors, We always have the hope that the remaining shape was left by human hands and the instability that We may lose it someday, and I express this fluctuation as a work.

刷った作品を藤間家で使っていた障子に貼ることができます。

[木版で絵画な拓本を作ろう]
8裁（約A５サイズ）の木版で、彫刻刀の彫りを活かした絵画のようなカラフルな拓本をします。

You can print SANGE(散華) on a postcard-sized Japanese paper with a woodblock print.
You can put the printed work on the SHOJI (障子) that was used in Former Toma Shinto Priest Residency.

Workshop②

[Let's make woodcut rubbing print like paintings. ]
Using a woodblock of about A5 size, we make a colorful rubbed print that looks like a painting by making use of the engraving of a carving knife.
●participation fee：￥6000 included Materials fee.
●tools available for rent is free.
●maximum capacity is 6 people.

I'm going to exhibit at the art gallery for nurses created by Nagaileben in 2015 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of its founding.
This gallery can be used as a personal space for medical professionals, as a place to display and appreciate art works, and as a place to relax. When you like, please go out with your friends.
Other than nurses, those who have Itona PASS CARD can use it.
